Crypto venture capital (VC) investments have fallen by $3.2 billion in the first half of the year, down 26% in the first half of the year compared to the first half of 2021, according to data provided by Crunchbase, a platform for finding business information about private and public companies. Slumping VC Investments in Crypto Market Investments in crypto companies totaled $9.3 billion in the first six months of 2022, down from the record $12.5 billion in the first half of 2021. Despite a 26% drop in crypto investments, VCs are still interested in investing in the industry. This is because the deal flow actually increased year-over-year from 456 deals to 534 deals. However, the increase in the deal flow also indicates that smaller deal sizes have helped drive the lower overall investments. In the meantime, venture capital investments are down practically everywhere, not just in crypto companies. For instance, data from Crunchbase revealed that the second-quarter funding fell 26% quarter over quarter from $162 billion in the first quarter and 27% year over year from $165 billion in the second quarter of 2021. Overall, the total VC investments in the second quarter totaled over $4.2 billion, which is significantly on the lower spectrum than last year.
